Dr. Edward Washington graduated summa cum laude and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Morehouse College. He attended medical school at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA. After graduation, he worked in the surrounding Atlanta Metropolitan area (Atlanta VA, Grady Hospital, Emory University Hospital) during his internship at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Washington completed his Ophthalmology residency in Columbus, OH, at The Ohio State University. He completed his Glaucoma fellowship at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, LA. Following his training, he joined the faculty at the University of Louisville in Kentucky and served patients at University Hospital, Norton Children’s Hospital, and Louisville VA Hospital. His clinical responsibilities included training residents in diagnosing and treating glaucoma and cataract patients in the clinic and the operating room.

After relocating his family back to Georgia, he decided to focus his purpose and intention on giving patients quality and professional ophthalmic service in the local area. He is determined and dedicated to serving Atlanta Metropolitan and Georgia patients. Dr. Edward Washington is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a glaucoma specialist with experience in medical, laser, and surgical treatment of glaucoma. Dr. Washington has performed new Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) and recommends specific procedures based on the individual patient. He is an experienced cataract surgeon trained in the latest techniques and technology for diagnosing and treating cataract patients.
