Common Ground Canteen & Kitchen is the collaboration of chef Nic Barrett and his wife Kath Austen. Beginning his career in the hustle and bustle of Sydney’s fine dining establishments with the likes of Pete Evans (Hugo’s Lounge) and the CBD’s Wentworth Hotel, Nic is no stranger to the Australian restaurant game.
Following a 5 year stint as the personal chef to arguably Australia’s most influential business family, Nic followed his dream of living and working abroad in Europe and the US before returning to Australia and fine tuning his passion for butchery with the world renowned team at Hudson’s Meats in Sydney, Australia.
Fast forward 5 years and Common Ground Canteen Kitchen in Long Jetty continues to be the home to smoked & slow roasted meats coupled with wholesome side dishes, burgers and coffee. Combining their love of locally sourced produce and the idea of a down to Earth dining experience. Kath & Nic have created a unique destination where the ‘chef hats’ are replaced by wholesome, fresh, simple food in an atmosphere that reminds you of home.
